Does anyone know any natural remedies to cure a cold?

My 10 month old son is just miserable! he's coughing so much his nose is runny and he has a fever every few hours. My doctor sent us on our way with nothing stating that he would get over it on his own. I can't stand to see my son like this and was wondering if anyone knew any home remedies that might help him. I know about the humidifier, the suction bulb, and the baby vapor any other suggestions would be appreciated thanks.
