If a Distortion pedal states that it is a cl A distortion would it be as good as any other tube preamp?

I've seen pedals like the Damage Control Pedals that state it has cl A distortion does that mean if I plugged that into an amp with power tubes it'd be able to compete with other amps like Marshalls and Mesas?
