Having a giant family. Is it a bad idea?

With the economy like it is. Is it wise to have a huge family. Sure you/your spouse have a good job now but what if it wasn't there. I don't understand the need to have more than 3 kids. I will have 2 and that's plenty for me. And Im not knocking those who do want or have a large family. I would rather have 2 and know that if I lost my job or my husband lost his we would still be o.k. Is a big family still a viable option? Do shows like 17 and counting etc portray a unrealistic view of a large family. These people not only get paid to do the show they get freebies all the time. What's your take on this?
